Work Experience

·  General Manager, Radio WUVT-FM (2001-present).  Management of small 3 kW Class-A licensed non-com/educat station.

·  Student Worker, Virginia Tech Antenna Lab (2000-present).  Responsibilities include web development, research and financial documentation management, clerical duties, and research project assistance.

·  Thermocouple Replacement Team, Century Control Systems (July 1999).  Participated in the removal, replacement, calibration, and re-installation of thermocouples in the Salem Yokohama tire plant steam press.

·  Field Manager, Pine Hill Farms (1995-1999).  Responsibilities included directing field operations, training and supervising of field hands, and heavy equipment resource management.

·  Assistant Engineer - Radio WUVT-FM/AM (Oct 2000-present).  Responsibilities include station equipment maintenance and repair, both in studio and transmitter room.  Experience with medium-power (3 kW) tube-type transmitter, microwave STL, and others.

·  Audio recording/production - single and multi-track, live and studio, analog and digital; experience in all levels of production/post production.  Experience in Cool Edit, Sound Forge, many others.  Experience in spot/PSA production.  Experience in recording small and medium-scale bands, choirs, and wind ensembles, electronic and folk music.

·  President - Virginia Tech Amateur Radio Association (Feb 2001 - Feb 2002)

·  Vice President - Virginia Tech Amateur Radio Association (Jan 2000- Jan 2001).  Responsibilities include coordination of club events, operations, etc.

·  Treasurer - Virginia Tech Amateur Radio Association (Jan 2000-Jan 2001).  Responsibilities include managing of budget and finances for club.

·  QSL Manager - Virginia Tech Amateur Radio Association (Oct 1999-Jan 2000).  Responsible for receiving, filing, and answering of domestic and international contact confirmation certificates for amateur station K4KDJ.

·  Agricultural Experience

-     Management of medium-sized (~40 head) cattle herd.

-         Management of land, including hay/fodder harvest, small                          scale gardening, fencing, wood and water resources.

-         Routine maintenance, repair, and operation of heavy equipment, including diesel tractors, hay and hydraulic equipment.  Small engine repair.

-         Construction and maintenance of large structures, barns, sheds, etc.

·  Welding (arc) and light machine-work.

·  Carpentry.

·  Painting.

·  Plaster application.

·  Electronics - experience with soldering, circuit troubleshooting, implementation of solutions, and multimeter and oscilloscope operation in consumer, commercial, and industrial electronics.  Device experience includes RF, audio, analog, digital, solid-state, and tube.  Ability to read, interpret, and generate schematics and loop diagrams.

·  Computers - experience in DOS, Win 3.X 9.X 2K NT ME, UNIX, Linux; HTML, CGI/Perl-scripting; hardware configuration for standard operation, as well as advanced audio editing.

·  Music - One year study of theory and fundamentals, Virginia Tech.  Currently studying composition under Dr. Patrick Simpson, Virginia Tech.

·  DJing/Entertainment Engineering- multiple high-school/middle school dances as well as several public events, including car shows.  Also experience in operating medium to semi-large scale mixing consoles, PA, and lighting/special effects systems for live sound applications.  Experience in repairing/maintaining large speaker systems.

·  Amateur Radio - Callsign KF4YLM.  Extra Class license with 20 wpm Morse code;  Member ARRL, ARES, SKYWARN (spotter ID 99-005-009), VTARA, VMARC.  Active in public service.
